4 Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in DTLA

There’s activities o’plenty this weekend near Axis apartments in DTLA.

Los Angeles is known for a lot of things, a big Irish-American population isn’t one of them. Luckily on March 17, everyone is Irish for the day and if you read a little further, you will definitely find some awesome things to do this St. Patrick’s Day. With a great starting location from an Axis apartment in DTLA, you can make sure this will be the best St. Patty’s yet.

Since St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Sunday this year, the celebration will start on Saturday, giving you the whole weekend to explore your inner Irish in DTLA. Here are some great options to fill your ‘deireadh seachtaine’ (that’s ‘weekend’ in Irish Gaelic).

DTLA Pub Crawl

If you’re down for a mix of block party and pub crawl, you’re in luck. Billed as LA’s largest St. Patrick’s Day party, the event runs March 16 (2 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and March 17 (1 p.m. to 7 p.m.), so you can get your reveling in Saturday and still have time for a relaxed Sunday. You’ll need a ticket, then check in at the LA Biergarten. From there you’ll have a bunch of bars and restaurants you can visit that offer specials to crawlers.

Flogging Molly

If you act quickly, you still may be able to score a ticket or two to the Hollywood Palladium for one of St. Patrick’s Day’s most popular acts. Formed in 1997, Flogging Molly is a seven-piece Irish-punk band from right here in Los Angeles, California. If you love live music, there’s no better way to spend your St. Patrick’s Day in LA. The only downside is that it’s not right in DTLA like the other options on this list, but like a lot of places you want to go, it’s pretty easy to get to from here.

Casey’s St. Patrick’s Day Street Festival

If you’re looking for something a little more traditional, consider Casey’s Irish Pub. While it may not be low-key, this will be a great way to celebrate the Irish in LA. Opening at 6 a.m. on Sunday, with the Street Fest starting at 11 a.m., this all day affair offers food, fun, and drink to satisfy any Emerald Isle cravings, from a proper pint of Guinness to a heaping plate of corned beef and cabbage.

Host your own

If you’ve got the luck of the Irish or you’re just a savvy apartment dweller, you probably already live in a stupendous apartment in DTLA at Axis on Twelfth or Axis on Eleventh. Both Axis locations offer tremendous spaces to host friends, including clubroom lounges, game rooms and a pool. And most importantly, the apartments are beautifully designed and full of stylish touches. Just grab some snacks, maybe a box of Lucky Charms, and some Irish-inspired beverages and you’re ready to have a great St. Patty’s at your place.

If you haven’t found the right apartment in DTLA, schedule a tour at Axis and we’re sure you’ll agree that it’s truly one of the best places to be.
